About Dr. Savage

After completing his undergraduate studies at UCLA, Dr. Richard Savage graduated with honors from UC-San Francisco School of Dentistry. He completed his orthodontic residency at UCSF Medical Center and still continues his education in all phases of orthodontics, including TMJ, surgery, functional appliances, implants, periodontal management and current trends in orthodontics. He has practiced in Orange County since his completion of his orthodontic training.

Dr. Savage has lectured on the topics of orthodontic practice management, the use of functional appliances, computer technology and case finishing techniques. He has presented material at orthodontic meetings on the local, state and national level. Dr. Savage is board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and for parts one and two of the National Dental Boards and is licensed to practice dentistry in the states of California and Washington. Dr. Savage now maintains a full-time orthodontic practice in Anaheim Hills, California.

Dr. Savage holds many leadership positions on the local, state and national level. He is a Delegate for the American Association of Orthodontists and he is past President of the California Association of Orthodontists. He is also the past Chairman of the AAO Council on Information and Technology along with the PCSO and CAO Technology and Information Committees. Dr. Savage also stays involved with being a member of the PCSO Continuing Education Committee, AAO Office of the Future Task Force, Orange County Orthodontic Study Club and the Orange County Orthodontic Peer Review, where he is also Chair.

While these prestigious positions keep him very busy, Dr. Savage still finds time to partake in additional professional organizations, such as the OKU National Dental Honor Society, California Club (Honor Club UC), American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, California Dental Association, American Dental Association, California Association of Orthodontists and the Orange County Dental Association.

Dr. Savage has worked with several community groups including the Children’s Hospital of Orange County, Anaheim Hills Community Council and the various church groups and fundraisers. Dr. Savage has four adult children and his youngest, Ryan, recently completed Dental School at the University of the Pacific. Dr. Savage is the past Public Relations Officer of the Santana United States Power Squadron, and he has taught several courses on boating education and safety.
